Master Planning Principles

To guide the development of the university’s master plan, the university has developed a series of planning principles for decision-making around future projects. These principles reflect the overall vision for the future of campus, to create physical spaces that support future academic programs and a vibrant living and learning campus. 

Georgetown University’s master planning principles include:

• Introduce new, high-quality green spaces and expand existing ones
• Organize strategic growth consistent with campus districts / typology
• Continue to develop a more residential living and learning community
• Create a pedestrian-friendly campus
• Improve transportation modes and means into campus
• Resolve issue of the use of Kober-Cogan site and surrounding grounds, consistent with the university and Medstar’s planning principles
• Address deferred infrastructure maintenance needs
• Establish an effective, efficient clinical footprint to address Georgetown’s academic and medical mission
